There was no trust built up in the relationship with your uncle. I know you believe there was trust, but that's not what was happening. What he was doing is called "grooming" you. He took advantage of your youth and your vulnerabilities (the lack of attention and love from your parents), and he used them in a way that would bring him what he wanted. That is not trust. YOU trusted him, but it wasn't trust that was between you. I understand why you miss him; he provided you with what you weren't getting at home. But you must see things for what they really were in order to heal from them. As for telling your boyfriend, trust is something that's earned, Briony. It doesn't happen automatically. It happens over time, LOTS of time, when someone PROVES they are trustworthy. You need help dealing with this. Rather than look to your boyfriend to tell at this point, consider instead disclosing to a school counselor or contact ChildLine on 0800 1111.
