You are smart
by: Darlene Barriere

It's good that you are seeing a counsellor, Ana, someone who can lead you toward a healthy self-esteem, because you are NOT stupid, you are NOT dumb, and you are NOT an idiot. Your sister was very wrong about that. You are smart. Keep telling yourself that, because it's true.

And what your brother did to you was horrendous. He took advantage of you and he deserves to be punished for his terrible actions against you. You really did deserve to be treated so much better than either your brother or your sister treated you. I wish you all the best, dear.

TAKE TIME
by: Anonymous

Keep working on these issues with your counselor. Although you had a poor upbringing and were abused, you can go on. There is strength in you to survive and heal from this. There is no excuse for abuse, it is wrong. You have the power to not let it happen again to yourself and to not abuse others. Look at the simple things in life and appreciate it. There are beautiful flowers to look at, animals to love and cuddle, puddles to jump over, rocks to throw and skip in lakes, etc. Take time to enjoy the little things around you. I have found that it helps me to go on because there is more to life and living if you look around you.
