The following child abuse story from Linda depicts emotional child abuse, physical child abuse and child neglect. The child abuse effects on Linda: low self-esteem and the belief that she must please her father.
The following story from Linda included her e-mail address at the bottom of her submission. She asked for help from anyone out there willing to write her. When I wrote my reply to Linda, I explained that it would be irresponsible for me to include the e-mail address of a minor and open her up to every wacko on the planet--not to mention that doing so is probably, or at least should be, illegal. I also explained that I do my best to protect the privacy of all those who write me their stories and comments. My story is not gonna measure up to what the others say. I'm only 15 and we just got help with our problem. I need someone I can talk to about this, cause right now I have no one!!!!!!!!! I was born in 1991 in Roysten, and my mom and dad were so proud of me. They showed me to everyone. About 5 years later, my brother (Jonathan) was born and they really loooved him. So Daddy started to not like me more and I would get in trouble about everything. I washed clothes and cleaned, and I got hit about everyday. Some were worse than others. Dad hit me this one time, I remember vividly, with a metal pole, and sent me to school the next day. I had a broken nose and a black eye. My boyfriend at the time . . . I confided to him . . . I told him everything. He said he loved me and hated to see me hurt, and he told DFCS. DFCS stepped in and told my dad to stop hitting me and neglecting me, and to stop treating my brother like he was perfect. My sister was 3 at the time, and I had raised her. I love her so much!!!!!!!! We went to foster care, and through court Dad and Mom got us back. Daddy went to jail for a while and got out. We (my mom and I) were there when he got out. He gave my mom a hug, but ignored me. He told her he hated my guts and he didn't want me. We're back with them now, and I go to school. The beatings have stopped, but he still neglects me. He doesn't talk to me. I thank God he let this stop, and it might get better soon I hope I really try to please him. But it doesn't work. Linda |
