In Canada, the statistics reveal that 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused in some way before they reach the age of 18. Some studies are beginning to show that males are sexually abused in far greater numbers than this statistic shows, possibly on a level that's more even with girls. We don't know for sure because this is still such an under-reported crime. But what's important is your message, Maria. Thank you for sharing your message and thoughts on child abuse with my visitors and me. People like you make a difference in the world, and for that, I'm so grateful. Keep making a difference!

Maria: I know statistic's tell us alot and are very important so thank you for that; Darlene sure affirms you in her comment and also informing us of Statistic's in Canada: I have not heard of any such survey done here in my country Ireland so I will begin today making the neccessary enquiries: I have little faith in statistic's because they don't seem to have the real effect on people's mind that they are expected to have: Yet, Thankfully each Nation of the world with all the States of America are ensuring safeguarding our children by creating Laws and Children's rights highlighting in people's minds that ABUSE is wrong: Our World is in a mess enconomy's are breaking down all over the world: Meaning we have less money to set up proper structures for professional and qualified Therapist's and Counsellors for both: If Statistic's are right and I don't have any reason to doubt them then there should be a counsellor for every 50 abusers and equally the same for those they abused: It should be mandatory for all those who have suffered abuse to tell someone and this in turn should be the person that most Church's, Schools, Education Institutes, Universaties have in place for that reason: Human Nature is a MYstery: All those who are still suffering from the effects of abuse must be brave: Have the courage to tell: Then the process of counselling their abuser can begin: Though let me add not before they serve a sentence of years away from society for their actions: We know that many remain in denial and make those who sentenced them still feeling HOW DO WE DEAL WITH THE ABUSER: By not telling on them Our Abusers are innocent until they are proven Guilty: Yet, I am still feeling the hurt and the pain: Many of our abusers are dead so unless those who knew them, and knew they abused I am the sufferer: Darlene has empowered all her visitors with her comment to seek out some form of counselling ( A MUST ) in our healing from abuse: Giving each of us back the power that was taken from us in our innocent and vunerable years: Don't Quit Don't give up be like Maria speak out for the voiceless THE ABUSED
