Overcoming child abuse and its effects is something we all need to do something about. No one can sit on their laurels and expect that someone else will take care of the problem. I hope that you too will do your part. Perhaps by deciding to enter into a field that will allow you to use resources to both prevent child abuse and intervene when child abuse is taking place. Perhaps as a volunteer in an organization that helps parents and children. Only with a collaborative effort do we as a society have any hope for successfully keeping children safe. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this pervasive issue with my visitors and me.

by: maurice

ABUSE in whatever form it happened you is wrong: totally so: The levels are measured by how each one is effected by what happened them: Acceptance varies from one chld to another: from one Adult to another: I believe that at what ever level each one of us admits we were abused that the effects are real: we all need support, love, affirmation and counselling: Yet I know many who were with me who did not need counselling but got on with living there life and it turned out Normal: Only last evening I was at a Reunion of a doz of us who received the same abuse Physical at ther saame institution: Yet, all of us have lived our lives to the full in the way we coped with it: But it effected each of us that is for sure: The fact after all the years 50, 40, 30 each of us talked freely of the effects (different) it had on us all. some married, single, even members of the church: all the married never ever spanked their chldren. It's a huge area: But Darlene's site sure brings out the human story behind abuse: It is the first step for so many to get help: empowering and powerful: Darlene's comment is truly from her owm experience and having turned Being Victim into Victory now honestly replies to My Thoughts on Child Abuse: Thanks to both of you:
