You were in such a vulnerable state, and that family seemed to only want a punching bag. CPS and the system failed you miserably. I can only hope that you are now truly free from that abuse and that you are able to make healthy choices going forward.

When we come from an abusive environment, then get put into another abusive environment, it's really easy to blame ourselves. To ask, what have I done to deserve this. It's that latter message that needs to be altered. You didn't deserve any of it, Heather. Period. End of story. Even when you ask the question rhetorically, it still sends the message to the psyche that you in some way deserved to be abused. So whenever, if ever, that comes up again in your mind and memories, stop and tell your Self in no uncertain terms, "I did NOT deserve to be mistreated. I deserved--and still deserve--to be treated with dignity and respect and love." Then make the commitment each and every day to treat your Self with that dignity and respect and love. Treating your Self better than anyone else ever has goes a long way in the healing process.

I send you love, light and healing energy, Heather. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.
