Advocating for your children...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

You are in such an impossible position. While I can't offer any advice that would help you with your legal battles with the system and this man, perhaps another of my visitors will read your story and be able to provide some suggestions.

It sounds as though the judge in this case is looking at the evidence and deeming it more about an issue between the two adults instead of putting the best interests of the children at the forefront; therefore, an advocate for your children sounds like a very good idea. Continue to love and hug your children (as I believe you already are) and be a soft place for them to land.

Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me. I wish you and your children all the best.

I keep fighting too. My story is very similar to yours. I have 4 children, and they have unsupervised visitation. I have sole custody of all 4, which is almost unheard of in our state, but my oldest wants to live with his father, as he is desperately seeking the approval that was denied him repeatedly as a little boy. My ex has physically injured our children by putting them into dangerous situations, choking, pinching, poking, and injecting them. Many of these incidents were reported by teachers or counselors or their pediatrician, yet he still gets unsupervised visitation. My oldest son, who lives with him has gone from a straight A student to a mostly C student who sleeps through all his classes and is severely underweight. Yet the court, the judge and the law guardians repeatedly rule that he has unsupervised visitation. My children are in counseling too, on their third therapist after their father convinced them I was paying the other ones to 'get inside their heads and mess them up to make them hate him'.
I have no money left either..tens of thousands down the drain and nothing to show for it. I will keep fighting, I will keep educating them, I will keep them in counseling, and I will pray that someday, someone will hear this story and help keep them safe. I hope you continue to fight for your children's safety as well and know there are a lot of us out here, sooner or later, we will make a difference!
