You are well on your way toward healing and recovery
by: Darlene Barriere - webmaster

You should be so proud of yourself. You really have done amazingly well. Thank goodness you had your group leaders to help you through such a horrible time in your life. I have so much respect for you, and for your leaders—your female leader for providing the kind of support and listening skills you needed at the time; your male leader for teaching you that the sexual assaults were not your fault. Because they weren't your fault.

I am, however, appalled that your molester is allowed to visit you or in any way get near you. This shows a tremendous violation of your right to both be and feel safe. I strongly urge you to disclose the sexual abuse he inflicted on you to the authorities. Even if it cannot be prosecuted because there isn't enough evidence, the fact that a complaint is on record for this person is crucial. HE IS LIKELY SEXUALLY MOLESTING SOMEONE ELSE! If you don't report what he did to you, no one may ever realize he is a predator. Predators do not suddenly stop their molesting ways. Reporting the abuse could stop someone else from being sexually assaulted by this person.

Healing
by: Kate

I have been in a similar situation as you. I am now 45 and can say happily married. Healing does take time, but you have made a great start. I do agree that you should not be around him. Part of my healing came with confronting each of my abusers, not to receive anything from them, but to free myself from any mental holds that were attached to me. Keep going in the direction you are and know you are on an uphill path now. God Bless and good luck.
