To Worried Teacher:
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

You have an obligation to report what you know and what you suspect. Depending on where you live, you may have a legal obligation to report; you may be mandated to report. In either case, you're morally obligated. It is not up to us to determine if we're intervening in so-called "family problems." It's about doing our part to ensure the safety of a child or youth. Contact a local child abuse hotline or Child Protective Services. And if you're in either the USA or Canada, as a teacher, you ARE legally required to make a report to the appropriate authorities. Thank you for sharing with my visitors and me. I send you and the affected adolescent love, light and healing energy.

I agree with Darlene; you have to call the authorities on your student's abusive dad ASAP; it's not about intervening so-called "family problems"; it's just about doing the right thing. No one deserves to be abused in any way.
