Emotional abuse can leave the deepest scars. And when the people who are responsible for us are the ones doing the abusing, it makes it that much more difficult to bear.

Our mothers were very similar. When I was a child, they considered women like my mother "manic depressive". Today they would label her bi-polar. But labels only label, they don't deal with the problem or with how the person chooses to behave, like in taking out their rage on their children, changing the rules of the game, etc. Healing is a choice, a choice you're making. Keep up the great work, Temperance. And feel free to share any additional stories here. I send you love, light and healing energy. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.

So little love shown...
by: Anonymous

My heart goes out to you, Temperance. All those years of trying to please your parents and not seeing love; all those years of also trying to protect your sister(s), probably out of love, and still not receiving love. Just to let you know that I read what you wrote.

lack of support is so hard
by: kristen

I read your story.
My heart cries out for you.
You needed love and security and you did not get it.
Good luck in your healing.
Look to the future. Make a path.
