Child Abuse Story From Sue B

by Sue
(Calgary, Alberta, Canada)

I am 43 now and just dealing with the abuse.
I was 8 until 13, when I finally told my mom.
Before that age it's a blank.
Not sure why God gave me that path.
I am still struggling, and have a lot of shame.
I remember holding my baby sister at night so my dad would not hurt her.
I sacrificed myself when he would whisper my name at night.
I knew how to come out of my body.
It's just awful.
I know they are sick, but I still don't understand why!!

*tears

No good reasons why...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Sue, even if you were to hear an answer, it would never be good enough because there are no good reasons why. Ever. Something I learned a very long time ago: When we as child abuse survivors focus on the WHY, we do it at the expense of dealing with our pain. In the big picture, the WHY of it doesn't matter. What matters is addressing the emotional trauma in order to move forward with our lives. If we don't, we give up our power to the very molesters and abusers who so callously took our innocence away. Your molester isn't worth one more second of one more day of your life, Sue.

If you aren't already, I strongly urge you to seek out some form of counselling to help you with all this. You're the one who's worth the care and attention.
