I'm absolutely delighted that you have taken the step of not only recognizing that you need help to deal with your past, but that you are actually going into counseling. And doing so with the full intent of opening up completely and utterly to the process. Speaking from personal experience, it is one of the most grueling things you'll ever go through, but it is SO worth it. Just keep remembering that what happened to you was NOT your fault. And that what happened to you at the hands of the man who was suppose to love and protect you and keep you safe from harm (not inflict harm) is indeed in the past. You survived the worst of it already. Re-living it in order to deal with the feelings and emotions, though very difficult, will ultimately be very cleansing. Trust me when I say that you CAN learn to trust again. Thank you for sharing your story and what you plan to do now with my visitors and me.
