You're a VERY good friend. You're caring and supportive, someone very special in her life. You know that keeping the secret is not going to help your friend. Fear is keeping her from helping herself. Please contact Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) in order to talk to someone about the abuse you know your friend is dealing with. They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counselors who will listen to you. They are not a reporting agency. You can visit their website by copying & pasting the following URL into your browser: http://www.childhelp.org/get_help

Katherine, it's very difficult when you know your friend is being abused and you feel helpless. So don't forget to take care of yourself. Talk to your parents or a school counselor, not just about what your friend is dealing with, but how it's affecting you. Lean on people for the support you need; support from trusted adults. You deserve support too. Thank you for sharing your friend's story with my visitors and me.
