You are an inspiration...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Kara, thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me, and for including your very important message to other child abuse survivors. Through you, others can learn and understand how talking about their abuse can make them feel less alone, and also point them toward the path of healing and recovery. All the best to you, and your sister.

The Brave and The Good have a good influence on others
by: maurice

Kara, you are brave and good in all you've shared in your story to Darlene and her visitors. Darlene has given you beautiful affirming words of love and understanding. You sure said that the times were abused ever so cruelly by your mother and being starved and left without heat by your sad father. were a stage of your life you want to let go. Good on you for sharing it all with your Aunt and Uncle with support and the help you now to live your life to the full. You say while the memories will always be there you want to think positive thoughts about them and help others. Good on you Kara. Keep loving and living for your own life's happiness. Now that you have found God through the Christian Faith I've no doubt it will be a source of great grace and blessing to you in your life. I will pray for you. Let us pray for each other ''EH'' I'M SPECIAL and I LOVE ME. I am BEAUTIFUL AND PRETTY and I LOVE ME. ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOURSELF KARA. Building up your own self worth, self esteem especially in front of the mirror, Oh yes you make yourself who you really want to be from within yourself in the Mirror. Love and respect yourself, your wonderfulness and your prettiness. Then others will love and respect you in return for being YOU. I can, I will, I must just for me. Thank you.

Same here...plus, your mom was out ot control
by: Anonymous

Kara, your mom was so out of control that I am sorry you had to go through this. I can relate; many people who know me, too, see me as "happy", "outgoing", "bubbly", "boisterous", "rambunctious" and the like although I, like you, am really a shy, quiet, withdrawn and depressed person. Your parents have lots of problems and they really need help...but you need help, too. Have you tried counselling? Be brave, Kara, and stay strong.
