I'm delighted that the counselling you're receiving is helping you, and that you now understand that not only was the abuse not your fault, that you couldn't do anything to stop it. He was the one with all the power, and he misused that power. He knew your vulnerabilities, and he used those against you. He knew your parents were always drunk and unlikely to be there in the way they needed to be there for you (and your sisters), so he took advantage. I'm very happy to learn that he is in prison for what he did so that he cannot do this to another child. Bravo to you for telling your sister, and bravo to her for telling your parents. They may not have done anything, but obviously someone did because now he's in prison. You and your sister can be very proud of yourselves for your actions. Stay in counselling in order to deal with all the repercussions of what you endured, Jamie. You didn't deserve to be abused in any way. You certainly deserve help for the fact that you were. And though you are no longer with the wonderful foster family, you learned through them what a real family is all about. This is a lesson you can keep with you for the rest of your life, a lesson that you can take with you if and when you decide to have a family of your own. They touched you life in ways you may not yet be able to understand. You can cherish that. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.
