You DID make it; and was left with a sixth-sense of sorts. I too possess that ability; I think many of us who came from abuse recognize the signs and the lingering effects in others. We can also sense the abusers, male AND female. What we do with that sense can make what we lived through "purposeful", if we choose to allow it to be purposeful. You've been able to help your daughter immensely as a result of what you lived through. A gift from you to your daughter. I see it as a "gift" to your daughter; one that you can give freely. In doing so, perhaps there can be more healing for you. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.

A willing enabler for a mother...and a vicious beater for a brother
by: Anonymous

Jacqueline, what your brother and mother did to you was pathetic, unforgivable, cruel, sadistic and ungrateful because you deserved so much better than what they did to you. They certainly didn't deserve you in their lives because they are really twisted, confused, cruel, and sadistic in their own ways of thinking. Oh, and shame on your mother for running away from you all the time instead of protecting you from that beast of a brother. I am just as disgusted by her reactions towards him beating you up. I can relate; my brother used to beat the crap out of me all the time and my parents wouldn't protect me at all. Anyway, most people who treat somebody the way you were treated often do it out of jealousy because they knew that they will never become such a beautiful, shiny star like you. Oh, and you did nothing wrong and nothing will ever be your fault; in fact, those cowards are to blame because they had all the power and they only misused it over you. I hope that you are in a safe place now and that you will try counselling. I wish you and your daughter all the best.
