You deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, even in discipline. And though your parents have the right to use physical discipline on you (a fact that I detested), they do not have the right to harm you. I urge you to contact Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) in order to talk to someone about the abuse you are dealing with. They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counsellors who will listen to you. They are not a reporting agency, although they can help you through the process of reporting if you decide to disclose the abuse. Visit their website by copying & pasting the following URL into your browser: http://www.childhelp.org/get_help

Just know and understand that you are worthy and lovable and that just because your parents send you terrible messages about your Self doesn't mean they're true. Parents are human, and as such they do things that are wrong and very troublesome. Always remember you do not deserve to be mistreated. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me. I send you love, light and healing energy, Jackie.

The Horror

Jackie, I really hope that you're out of that house now. That's not even discipline; that's just abuse. Just because parents have the right to discipline their kids, that doesn't mean they have the right to hurt their kids. I'm sure that your mom is probably frustrated with her own life and she chose to take it out on you...and sadly, she didn't get the help that she needs because no one is helping her, so TELL, TELL, TELL! Even if someone won't believe you, don't give up, just keep telling until he/she will finally listen to you and help you and your mom. Children are gifts to treasure, not to abuse.

Same here. I wrote my story called From 1 to 13... It's in here, so if you wanna read it I'm open to it. My mom swears and my dad beats be and threatens me with a belt. Both me and my sister have scars (some white, others gray) running down our legs from the metal studs on the belt for "decoration"... :(
