Child Abuse Story From Casey

by Casey
(Charlotte, North Carolina, USA)

I don't like the child abuse that goes on in the world. It makes me very sad. I just can't take it any more. It's just too freaking sad to handle...I can't handle it. I know how these kids feel because I'm emotionally abused in my house...I don't have anyone that I can talk to about it, which makes it even harder...so I have to handle it all on my own...but it could be worse, I could be sexually abused too.

You don't have to deal with this alone...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Emotional abuse is extremely difficult to deal with, Casey. It leaves you feeling like you're not good enough, and can have some pretty devastating effects physically and emotionally, so don't discredit what you are living with by comparing your situation to someone else's. I understand that it can be almost comforting to know that you are not dealing with something even worse, but what you ARE dealing with at home IS wrong. Discipline, yes; abuse, no. You deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

Casey, there are people who are willing to help you, but you must reach out to them first. I urge you to contact Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) in order to talk to someone about the emotional abuse you are dealing with. They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counsellors who will listen to you. They are not a reporting agency, although they can help you through the process of reporting if you decide to disclose. You're definitely worth getting some help for yourself, Casey. I sincerely hope you will.
