Child Abuse - No Help For Sexual Abuse Victim

by Rochelle

My son's 17-year-old girlfriend is being abused in her home:
My sons 17 yr old girlfriend has been sexually abused by her brother and beaten and smacked by her mom. She will be 18 i the state of new jersey in April . She came to my home to be safe and the police and dcf have both dropped the ball. This kid is going to get hurt or worse and I can't get help from anyone. The police and DCF went to her home and her mother hid all the bad things. She is so afraid and so am I. I need to get her out of her home but her mother won't let me see or speak to her. I don't know what I can do for her to get her out of her home.

When the authorities and Child Protective Services drop the ball and the child who is being abused is not protected, it's time to move up the chain of command. Get in touch with the supervisor at CPS. If you don't get results, then contact your senate or congressional rep. But you mustn't assume that just because you aren't getting this girl to live with you that nothing is being done. Get this girl to contact Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) in order to talk to someone about the abuse she is still dealing with. They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counsellors who will listen to her. They are not a reporting agency. Visit their website by copying & pasting the following URL into your browser:

She can also contact a women's shelter for other resources. Good luck to you and this young woman. And bless you for caring so much and acting in order to protect her when others refuse. Thank you for sharing your son's girlfriend's story with my visitors and me.
