My Support System!!

I haven't been able to look at this website since my last entry...I haven't really had the courage to do it...I started to feel nervous, sweaty, impatient and overwhelmed just at the thought of writing again.

So I am here today writing to you all about my weekend!

I had a full house this past week. My children came from Miami. My mother came from NYC. My sister-in-law, brother and my 3 nieces stayed over every day (live in Tampa). My friend from Miami came to support, and my sister, her husband and my nephew came from NYC. There was a "c" 3-mile run and 1-mile run taking place in Tampa and we wanted to support, so we made T-shirts and went on Saturday. We arrived late, but we got there before the ending time of the event.

Well, to OUR amazement there was NO TRACE AT ALL that an event had taken place. There was supposed to be booths with face painting and finger printing for the children and other stuff. But NOTHING!! We saw nothing..."maybe it finished early", we were arguing BUT how though no trace of anyone breaking a booth down or NOTHING. We drove around for about 15 minutes and then went back home. As I drove I was thanking God that 1-my kids were in the other car (they don't know my reasons for being so passionate about this cause) and 2-that I had my glasses on, because my mom was in the front with me and I didn't want her to see me tearing. I was in shock!!

Is it that people just do not care about CHILD ABUSE...is it that everyone just wants to pretend that it doesn't happen??

Child Abuse is REAL and unfortunately IT DOES HAPPEN EVERY DAY!! I just want to say this...

"DO NOT WAIT UNTIL CHILD ABUSE IS KNOCKING AT YOUR DOOR TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU ARE A VICTIM YOU INVOLVE EVERYONE THAT YOU KNOW SO THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS TO GO THROUGH WHAT WE HAVE GONE THROUGH! IF YOU KNOW OF A LOVED ONE THAT WENT THROUGH ANY TYPE OF ABUSE, SUPPORT THEM AND GET THEM INVOLVED IN STOPPING THE CYCLE AND SOMETIMES WE AS VICTIMS NEED A BIT OF A PUSH IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TO DO SOMETHING! MAKE A DIFFERENCE...SPEAK UP!!"

I hope when I go with my family next year that there is a HUGE difference in the turn of events and that instead of it finishing early due to lack of response, it runs OVERTIME!!

Thank you for reading this and let's work together to make a difference!!

God Bless!!

If I haven't left you a comment or one that is in-depth, please do not take my lack of a personal response as a slight, or as a statement that your story is somehow unworthy of my time. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, could be further from the truth. If there was a way for me to respond to all of you at length, I would.
