A Tribute to Someone Who Cares

by Linda Settles
(Lynchburg, VA)

In my last entry I spoke of eternal consequences for the unrepentant abuser. Darlene posted my article, though she views my topic from a different perspective. This post is to express my profound respect for Darlene and my appreciation of this wonderful lady.

I have linked my website to this site because there is no other site on the internet (including my own site) that offers the level of education about abuse and its effects that Darlene offers in child-abuse-effects.com

A Tribute to Someone Who Cares
(Darlene Barriere)

She travels paths long worn with dread
by those who wander here,
With empathy and wisdom gained
through catastrophic years.
She holds the banner forth, "You can!
Rise above your past."
She proves that you are not alone
for you have come at last,
To join the ranks of those who can
And fly your banner high
She offers hope to restless souls
who've managed to survive.

by Linda Settles

Thank you Darlene for offering your time, wisdom and compassion to survivors of abuse.

Wow!
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Linda, I am touched to tears by your beautiful heartfelt tribute. I'm blessed to have such caring loving people like you in my life. We've never met, but I feel as though we are bonded, not only as abuse survivors, but that we are bonded as friends. With all my heart, I thank you for your moving prose. You are both gifted and a gift to me.

THank You: poet, sincere Heart
by: Anonymous

Yes I join with you Linda, your words are gift to a very special caring, professional, woman/human being. Her stewardship as webmaster of her sight gives great solace and trust to all her visitors. She deserves your heartfelt words of recognition. Darlene is known to us as she too has told her story of abuse helping me and her many visitors to treat with love and respect her well chosen words to each of her visitors. Knowing she too went through the pain of abuse makes her words real and personal. Empathy is one very sure feeling that is her gift in pletiful to each of us. who trust telling our story to her and to her many visitors in safety and with confidence knowing they are shared with peoplewho love and care as real human life situations we've come through having been abused by not so nice people who should have loved us. The saddest thing for me to understand is that abuse happens and done by who are family/friend/guardian of our innocence as children. Mans/womans inhumanity to another sadly will not go away. That is why Darlene has created a site so that we can be family to each other in our love and understanding of the pain being abused caused us. There's life for each of us who have acknowledged and told our story. Think positive, act positive and be positive. Knowing I'M SPECIAL AND I LOVE ME SO THAT I CAN TRULY LOVE THOSE WHO SHOW ME REAL LOVE NOW IN MY LIFE. THANK YOU LINDA. THANK YOU DARLENE.
